About the event

The phrase "Applied Jainism" is often used to describe a newly-emerging method of applying Jain principles to the manifold challenges of everyday life. These challenges include personal life, family life, work life, corporate life, social justice, environmental degradation, climate change, animal advocacy, and many other dimensions where individuals and society are seeking inspiration and hope in our shared times of struggle.

Arihanta Academy is organizing, sponsoring, and hosting a conference with invited scholars of the Jain tradition and allied fields of inquiry to more precisely define what we mean by the term "Applied Jain Studies".

Why Attend This Event

Society faces multiple challenges. Environmental, social, political, economic, and many other dimensions of our everyday experience have forced us to reconsider the way we live and make choices in everyday life. Many are seeking solutions to these issues, and the Jain tradition is particularly equipped to help us confront them.

If you care about these and other related issues, please join us for Arihanta Academy's "Defining Applied Jain Studies" conference on Earth Day Weekend, April 22 and 23, 2023. Learn from top scholars around the world the myriad ways that Jain principles can be applied to contemporary concerns in everyday life and also understand some of the challenges of applying these principles.
